I've just updated Codex CLI to 0.136 and apparently became literally slow, a simple 5 minute prompt it lasts 1 hour an half.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Open Codex CLI
Write a simple prompt
Wait 1+ hour working to get the result

Reverting Codex CLI to 0.135 works. It's a problem just of 0.136 apparently

Confirming a very similar WSL/Codex CLI slowdown on my side as well, though on a newer CLI version.

Environment observed:

  • codex-cli 0.139.0
  • Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS on WSL2
  • Kernel 6.6.87.2-microsoft-standard-WSL2
  • High-tier / 20x Codex subscription
  • Observed on 2026-06-11

Symptoms:

  • Simple assistant turns sometimes took around 9-10 minutes.
  • The slowdown was severe enough that I abandoned the previous session and started a fresh one.
  • Local shell commands returned normally, so the painful delay appeared to be in Codex turn responsiveness rather than general WSL shell slowness.

So this does not appear limited to 0.136.0; I can reproduce the same class of unusable slowdown on 0.139.0.

I've updated to v0.143.0 and is working correctly, it's not slow.
