Codex mobile project list lacks unread/completed indicators and task timestamps shown on Desktop
Codex app version
Desktop Codex: 26.601.21317 — released Jun 2, 2026
Platform
- Desktop host: macOS Tahoe
26.5, Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, Pro plan - Mobile: Codex mobile on iPhone, connected to the same Mac host (
Mac.attlocal.net)
Summary
Codex mobile does not show the same project conversation status indicators that Codex Desktop shows in the sidebar.
On Codex Desktop, the project sidebar shows useful per-conversation metadata, including:
- a blue unread/completed-task indicator dot,
- relative task time such as
7h,9h,10h,11h, etc.
On Codex mobile, the same project conversation list only shows the conversation titles. It does not show the blue unread indicator and does not show the task time / relative time metadata.
Observed behavior
When viewing the same Mac host and project from Codex mobile:
- Conversations are listed by title only.
- There is no blue dot indicating which task is completed but unread.
- There is no visible relative task time next to each conversation.
- The user cannot quickly tell which tasks have newly completed results that still need to be reviewed.
Expected behavior
Codex mobile should provide parity with the Desktop sidebar for important conversation status metadata. It should show, or otherwise clearly expose:
- unread/completed-task status,
- a blue unread indicator or equivalent visual marker,
- relative task/update time,
- enough metadata for the user to know which tasks need attention.
Actual behavior
Codex mobile hides these indicators and timestamps, making the mobile project list much less informative than the Desktop sidebar.
Why this matters
This creates a significant workflow problem. Users often check Codex mobile to monitor long-running tasks while away from the desktop. Without unread/completed indicators and task times, it is difficult to know:
- which task finished recently,
- which completed task has not been reviewed yet,
- which conversation needs attention first,
- whether the mobile list is up to date with the desktop state.
Codex mobile should not force users to open conversations one by one just to determine whether a task has completed or whether there is an unread result.
Request
Please add Desktop-style unread/completed indicators and relative task timestamps to the Codex mobile project conversation list. At minimum, mobile should show the same blue unread status and relative time metadata that are already visible in the Desktop sidebar.
