What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.601.21317
What subscription do you have?
PLUS
What platform is your computer?
Darwin 25.2.0 arm64 arm
What issue are you seeing?
I’m a ChatGPT Plus subscriber. Codex Web works correctly on my account, but Codex on macOS keeps showing “Upgrade to Plus.”
I already restarted macOS, signed out, reinstalled Codex, and signed in again with the same ChatGPT account.
According to OpenAI docs, Plus users who hit Codex limits should see an option to add credits, while Free/Go users are prompted to upgrade to Plus. My macOS Codex seems to be misclassifying my Plus account as Free.
Please investigate macOS Codex subscription recognition / auth token sync.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Log in to ChatGPT on the web with a ChatGPT Plus account.
- Open Codex on the web and confirm that Codex works normally.
- Install or open Codex on macOS.
- Sign in to Codex on macOS using the same ChatGPT account and the same login method.
- Try to use Codex on macOS.
- Codex on macOS shows: “You've hit your usage limit. Upgrade to Plus to continue using Codex...”
- Restart macOS, sign out and sign back in, and reinstall Codex.
- Try to use Codex on macOS again.
- The same “Upgrade to Plus” message still appears, even though Codex works on the web with the same Plus account.
What is the expected behavior?
