What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.601.21317 - Released Jun 2, 2026

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

After opening the built-in Browser in the Codex Mac app, using Expand Panel and then Collapse Safe Area makes the chat UI disappear completely.

The chat no longer floats at the bottom like it did previously, and I cannot find any way to bring the chat input back after this happens. This leaves the browser fully expanded, but makes it impossible to continue chatting while using it.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Open the Codex Mac app, open the built-in Browser, press Expand Panel to fully expand the browser, then press Collapse Safe Area. The chat panel/input disappears entirely. After that, try to bring the chat back while keeping the browser expanded.

Result: there does not appear to be any way to restore or use chat after Collapse Safe Area is pressed in this expanded browser state.

What is the expected behavior?

The chat should remain accessible while the built-in browser is fully expanded. After pressing Collapse Safe Area, the chat should either continue floating at the bottom like it did previously, or there should be a visible control to restore the chat/input without collapsing the browser.
