Codex app version

Desktop Codex: 26.608.12217 — released Jun 8, 2026

Platform / plan

  • macOS Tahoe 26.5.1
  • Apple Silicon MacBook Pro
  • Pro plan

Language setting

App UI language is set to:

中文(中国)

Summary

After switching the Codex app UI language to Chinese, several parts of the interface are still not localized and continue to appear in English.

This makes the Chinese localization feel incomplete and inconsistent. Some parts of the app correctly switch to Chinese, while other labels, descriptions, menu items, and settings remain in English.

Observed behavior

With the app UI language set to Chinese, multiple UI areas still contain English text. Examples include, but may not be limited to:

  • some settings/integration labels and descriptions,
  • Appshots-related settings text,
  • dictation-related settings such as Keep dictation bar visible,
  • items such as Play sound effect,
  • model/speed selector descriptions such as Default speed and 1.5x speed, increased usage,
  • other mixed English/Chinese UI strings in menus and settings pages.

Expected behavior

When the app language is set to Chinese, all user-facing UI strings should be consistently localized into Chinese, including:

  • settings pages,
  • menu items,
  • option descriptions,
  • tooltips,
  • model/speed selector labels,
  • integration/plugin/appshot settings,
  • onboarding or helper text.

Actual behavior

The UI is partially localized. Some parts are Chinese, but several visible strings remain in English, creating an inconsistent mixed-language experience.

Why this matters

A partially localized interface can be confusing and unpolished for users who intentionally switch the app language to Chinese. It also makes settings harder to understand because users must interpret a mixture of Chinese and English within the same page or menu.

Request

Please audit the Chinese localization coverage across Codex Desktop and translate the remaining English UI strings. It would also help to add a localization completeness check so newly added UI strings do not remain untranslated when the app language is set to Chinese.
