Codex mobile is missing entire projects after latest updates, blocking mobile task execution
Codex app version
Desktop Codex: 26.608.12217 — released Jun 8, 2026
Platform / plan
- Desktop host: macOS Tahoe
26.5.1, Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, Pro plan - Mobile: latest iOS ChatGPT app / Codex mobile experience
- Mobile connected to the same desktop host
Summary
After updating both the desktop Codex app and the iOS ChatGPT/Codex mobile app to the latest versions, Codex mobile still has a serious project-list sync problem.
Many projects that are visible in the desktop Codex sidebar do not appear on Codex mobile at all. This is not just a case where a project appears with No chats. The affected projects are completely missing from the mobile project list, so I cannot even select them.
For privacy, I am intentionally not including specific project names here. The key issue is that the mobile project list is missing projects that are visible and usable on the desktop app.
Observed behavior
- Desktop Codex shows multiple available projects in the sidebar.
- Codex mobile is connected to the same desktop host.
- Codex mobile only shows a small subset of those projects.
- Several desktop-visible projects are completely absent from the mobile UI.
- The missing projects are not shown as
No chats; they are not shown at all. - Because the projects do not appear on mobile, I cannot start or continue Codex tasks for those projects from my phone.
Expected behavior
Codex mobile should list the same available projects as the desktop Codex app for the connected host.
If a project exists and is visible on desktop, it should appear on mobile as well, even if it has no recent conversations. At minimum, mobile should provide a refresh/reindex/pagination mechanism or a clear explanation for why a project is not shown.
Actual behavior
Codex mobile silently hides many projects that are available on desktop. This prevents mobile task execution for the affected projects.
Why this matters
This is a serious workflow blocker. Codex mobile is useful because it lets users monitor, start, and continue tasks while away from the desktop. If projects are missing entirely, users cannot run the intended work from mobile.
This is more severe than a No chats display issue because the projects are not selectable at all. It makes Codex mobile unreliable for multi-project workflows.
Request
Please investigate and fix Codex mobile's project-list synchronization/indexing with the desktop host.
The mobile app should:
- show all projects that are visible in the desktop sidebar,
- avoid silently hiding projects,
- provide a manual refresh/reindex option,
- distinguish between an empty project and a project that failed to load,
- and allow users to select every desktop-visible project from mobile.
