Windows Store Codex update appears stuck; app hangs after "Update downloading"

What issue are you seeing?
Codex displayed "Update downloading" and then became unusable. The app now hangs on startup.
Event Viewer reports AppHangTransient. Get-AppxPackage still shows version 26.602.4764.0, while the app log reports a newer Store manifest version is available:
