What issue are you seeing?

Codex Desktop crashes immediately after launch.

The window appears briefly and then closes after about 1-2 seconds.

Environment:

• Codex Desktop 26.608.1337.0
• Windows 11 Pro 25H2
• OS Build 26200.8655
• ChatGPT Plus

What I tried:

• Reinstalled Codex Desktop
• Reinstalled from Microsoft Store
• Reset application data
• Ran as administrator
• Disabled GPU acceleration
• Verified Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable x64/x86 are installed

Results:

• Codex CLI works normally
• Desktop app crashes immediately
• Crashpad generates .dmp files on every launch
• codex://threads/new briefly opens and then closes

Additional information:
The issue persists after reinstalling the application.

Crashpad reports are generated and available if needed.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Launch Codex Desktop from the Start Menu.
2. The application window briefly appears.
3. The window closes automatically after about 1-2 seconds.
4. A new Crashpad dump file is generated.

This happens every time and is reproducible after reinstalling the application.

What is the expected behavior?

Codex Desktop should remain open and display the normal application interface instead of closing immediately after launch.
