fast mode not available in codex desktop/vscode plugin when using api auth

the cli does allow me to enable gpt 5.5 fast mode via /fast.
but the option is not even present on desktop/vscode app

What steps can reproduce the bug?

auth codex desktop using openai api key.
select model gpt 5.5
you will notice no option to select speed.
