Unattributed gray usage bar in Codex Analytics consumed quota while idle

What issue are you seeing?

I am seeing unexplained Codex quota usage in Codex Analytics.

On June 13, Codex Analytics shows a gray usage bar in the Usage Breakdown chart even though I did not use Codex that day. My PC was not actively used, I do not use Codex CLI, my GitHub account is not connected, and I already secured my account by logging out everywhere and enabling 2FA.

The gray bar is not clearly explained by the chart legend. The visible legend only identifies:

• Desktop App
• Extension

However, the June 13 usage appears as a gray bar, so I cannot tell what source consumed the quota.

This is the second time my Codex limit has been reached or reduced unexpectedly while I was not using Codex.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

I cannot intentionally reproduce it, because the issue happens while I am not using Codex.

Observed sequence:

1. I used Codex previously through VS Code extension and/or Windows desktop app.
2. I do not use Codex CLI.
3. My GitHub account is not connected to Codex.
4. I secured my account by logging out from all sessions and enabling 2FA.
5. I did not use Codex on June 13, and my PC was not actively used.
6. Later, I opened Codex Analytics.
7. The Usage Breakdown chart showed a gray usage bar for June 13.
8. The chart legend does not explain what the gray bar means.
9. My weekly Codex usage limit was reduced even though I did not use Codex that day.

What is the expected behavior?

Codex Analytics should only show usage for actual Codex activity from my account, and every usage bar should be clearly attributed to a source.

Expected behavior:

• If usage comes from Desktop App, it should be shown as Desktop App.
• If usage comes from Extension, it should be shown as Extension.
• If usage comes from another source, such as cloud task, shared agentic usage, background retry, delayed reconciliation, or another Codex component, the chart should clearly label that source.
• If I did not use Codex and no task was running, my quota should not decrease.
• If quota is consumed, the Analytics page should show enough detail to identify the source, timestamp, and client/session.

• Plan: ChatGPT Plus
• Platform: Windows
• Codex surfaces used: VS Code extension and Windows desktop app
• Codex CLI: Not used / not installed
• GitHub integration: Not connected
• Account security: Logged out from all sessions and enabled 2FA
• This is the second time unexpected Codex quota usage happened

Please investigate what the gray bar represents and whether this is:

• unattributed shared agentic usage
• delayed usage reconciliation
• background retry or stale session
• Windows app or VS Code extension background activity
• Codex Analytics chart/legend bug
• quota-meter/reporting bug

If possible, please expose or check:

• timestamp
• source/client
• device/session ID
• task/session ID
• whether the usage came from VS Code extension, desktop app, cloud task, or another shared agentic usage source
