It seems that when you hit the usage limits, /goals doesn’t save the current session. I didn’t notice this with my Pro Light account, but after switching to my Plus account, it started happening. It’s occurred about three times, wasting a lot of usage, and at first I thought it was my fault. Apparently, Codex doesn’t save the goal state if the goal pauses due to hitting the usage limit.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Start Codex with an empty session, type /goal and enter the task you want to do. Let it run until it approaches the usage limit, at which point it will prompt you to either switch the model or keep using the current one. Select “Keep using the current model.” After truly hitting the limit, it will suggest using the /goal resume when the limit resets. Exit and close the terminal, then re-enter Codex, type /resume, and you’ll see the session isn’t saved (That session isn't in the list at all).
What is the expected behavior?
When the goal stops due to hitting the usage limit and the user exits the terminal, the goal state should still be listed when the user returns and types "/resume" allowing them to pick up where they left off.
