Feature request: Show system metrics above Codex desktop pet overlay

What variant of Codex are you using?

Codex App on macOS

What feature would you like to see?

I would like Codex Pets to support an optional lightweight system-monitor overlay above or next to the desktop pet.

Suggested metrics:

  • CPU usage
  • Memory usage
  • Network upload/download rate
  • Battery status
  • Current Codex task/thread state, such as running, waiting for input, or ready for review

Suggested settings:

  • Toggle system metrics on/off in Settings > Appearance > Pets
  • Choose which metrics to show
  • Configure refresh interval, such as 1s / 3s / 5s
  • Choose display position: above the pet, beside the pet, or inside a small bubble
  • Compact mode, for example: CPU 18% · RAM 62% · ↓ 1.2MB/s

Why this is useful:
The Codex pet already acts as a lightweight floating status companion for active Codex work. Adding optional system metrics would make it more useful as a glanceable desktop overlay while keeping it unobtrusive.

Possible extension:
Expose a Pet Overlay API so local plugins or MCP tools can provide read-only status data, such as system metrics, build status, test results, CI status, or task progress.

Additional information

This request is specifically for the floating Codex Pets overlay shown from Settings > Appearance > Pets / Wake Pet.
