Add a toggle to prevent automatic use of purchased Codex credits

What variant of Codex are you using?

IDE Extension, CLI, Web

What feature would you like to see?

Please add a setting such as:

“Do not automatically use purchased credits when included usage is exhausted.”

When the included 5-hour usage limit is reached, Codex should pause the current task and ask for explicit confirmation before consuming purchased credits.

Currently, it is difficult to estimate whether the remaining included usage will be sufficient for a task. A task may begin using the included allowance and then automatically consume purchased credits without the user intentionally choosing to spend them.

This creates a serious financial risk for users with limited budgets.

Suggested controls:

  1. A global toggle to disable automatic use of purchased credits.
  2. A confirmation dialog before switching from included usage to credits.

Purchased credits should remain available for emergencies, but they should only be used after explicit user confirmation.
