Desktop app: deleting conversations does not remove them from normal or archived lists

Open 💬 1 comment Opened Jun 16, 2026 by cnkohh-ui

Summary

In the Codex desktop app, deleting conversations does not appear to take effect. The issue happens from both the normal conversation list and the archived conversation list.

Environment

  • Product: Codex desktop app
  • Platform: macOS
  • Date observed: 2026-06-16

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Codex desktop app on macOS.
  2. Try to delete a conversation from the normal conversation list.
  3. Observe that the conversation remains visible / is not cleared.
  4. Archive a conversation or open the archived conversations list.
  5. Try to delete an archived conversation.
  6. Restart Codex.
  7. Check the normal and archived conversation lists again.

Expected behavior

After confirming deletion, the conversation should be removed from the list and should remain deleted after restarting the app.

Actual behavior

The conversation is not removed. This happens in both the normal list and the archived list. Restarting Codex does not resolve the issue; the conversations still appear.

Notes

The available app-level thread tools exposed in this environment include listing, archiving/unarchiving, pinning/unpinning, renaming, forking, handoff, and sending messages to threads, but no delete-thread operation is exposed. This report is based on user-facing UI behavior rather than direct local data inspection.

No private conversation content, local workspace paths, auth files, or account-specific data are included in this report.
