What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64
What issue are you seeing?
On Windows, when the Codex App is installed to a drive other than C:, the Computer Use feature and the browser extension integration do not work.
The app itself can launch normally, but browser-related functionality appears to be unavailable. The Codex browser extension cannot be used correctly, and Codex cannot properly control or connect to the browser through the extension.
After reinstalling or moving the Codex App back to the C: drive / default installation location, Computer Use and the browser extension integration work normally again.
This suggests that the issue is related to installing the Codex App outside the C: drive.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Install the Codex App on Windows.
- During installation, choose an installation path on a drive other than C:, for example D:\ or another non-system drive.
- Launch the Codex App.
- Try to use Computer Use.
- Install or enable the Codex browser extension.
- Try to use browser-related functionality through Codex.
Actual result:
Computer Use does not work, and the browser extension integration is unavailable or cannot be used correctly.
Control test:
After reinstalling or moving the Codex App back to the C: drive / default installation location, Computer Use and the browser extension integration work normally again.
Expected result:
Computer Use and the browser extension should work normally regardless of whether Codex is installed on C: or another drive.
What is the expected behavior?
This issue may be caused by hard-coded paths or assumptions that the Codex App is installed on the C: drive.
Please check whether Computer Use or the browser extension integration depends on paths under C:\ or assumes the default installation directory.
