Windows Codex app cannot be elevated
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
Version 26.611.61753
What subscription do you have?
Pro
What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64
What issue are you seeing?
The Windows Desktop app continues to run into issues with 740 "The requested operation requires elevation" when executing powershell. It needs to use the node REPL for operations, which it only figures out after failing the first 3 times or so.
This causes results to be slow, lots of noise, and tons of extra token usage. It regularly runs into issues executing certain things with Chrome/Playwright/plugins/external programs etc.
This started happening right after you pushed the update for connecting to Codex via mobile, and continues today.
I don't have this issue with the CLI.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Start codex with "Run As Administrator".
- Ask "can you check windows elevation"
- Observe "That command hit Windows error 740 ("The requested operation requires elevation")"
What is the expected behavior?
The app can execute elevated Windows commands.
