Summary
Codex frequently gets stuck at “Thinking” until I manually interrupt the task. This happens not only during /goal mode, but also during normal prompt-based tasks.
Environment
- Codex surface: Windows desktop app
- OS: Windows 11
- Codex CLI version: not applicable; CLI is not used
- App version:
26.616.71553 - Execution mode: worktree
Repro steps
- Open Codex on Windows.
- Start a task in either
/goalmode or normal prompt mode. - Codex begins executing.
- After a while, it gets stuck at “Thinking”.
- There is no visible tool/action progress.
- Manually interrupt the task.
- Continue/resume the task.
- Codex starts working again.
Expected behavior
Codex should continue execution, or clearly show what it is waiting for.
Actual behavior
Codex remains stuck at “Thinking” until I manually interrupt it. After interrupting and continuing/resuming, it starts working again.
Frequency
This happens frequently, especially during longer tasks.
