What version of the Codex App are you using?

Codex 26.623.5546.0 from Microsoft Store (winget list Codex).

What subscription do you have?

Not relevant / not provided.

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows 11 Home Chinese Edition, version 10.0.26200, x64.

What issue are you seeing?

On Windows, I want to set the Codex popup window hotkey to Alt+Space, similar to Tencent ima's wake-up shortcut behavior.

When I focus the shortcut recorder in Codex settings and press Alt+Space, Windows opens the current window's system menu instead (Restore / Move / Size / Minimize / Maximize / Close). As a result, Codex does not capture or assign the shortcut.

I understand that Alt+Space is the default Windows system menu shortcut, but some launcher-style apps can still register/capture it as a global hotkey. It would be useful if Codex could support this for the popup window hotkey, or at least provide a clear explanation/workaround in the UI.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Codex on Windows.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Find the popup window shortcut setting.
  4. Click the shortcut input so it says to press a shortcut.
  5. Press Alt+Space.

Actual behavior

Windows opens the window system menu, and Codex does not record Alt+Space as the popup window shortcut.

Expected behavior

Codex should either:

  • support registering/capturing Alt+Space as a global popup window hotkey on Windows, or
  • show a clear message that this shortcut is reserved/conflicting and cannot be used directly.

Workaround

A possible workaround is to set Codex to another shortcut such as Ctrl+Alt+Space, then use AutoHotkey or PowerToys to remap Alt+Space to that shortcut. However, native support would match the launcher behavior users expect from apps such as Tencent ima.
