Project chats only drag into folders after pinning, and new project chats can escape project folders

What happened?

After updating to Codex 26.623.61825, project folders now support dragging chats into them. I had been waiting for this because organizing/moving chats has been difficult, so it is great to see it arrive so quickly. Yay.

I found two related issues with assigning chats to project folders in the Codex sidebar:

  1. Only pinned chats appear to be draggable into a project folder. If a chat is not pinned, I cannot drag it into a project folder. The workaround is to pin the chat first, then drag it into the project.
  2. If I create a new project and choose an existing folder that is already associated with a Codex chat, a new chat started under that project may not stay under the project folder in the Codex sidebar. The existing Codex chat folder can be from an older chat, or from a chat/folder I created recently. The new chat appears to remove itself from the project folder in the Codex sidebar while being created and becomes a standalone/random chat instead. I then have to pin the new chat and drag it into the project manually.

Steps to reproduce

Bug 1: only pinned chats can be dragged into project folders
  1. Have an existing unpinned chat in the Codex sidebar.
  2. Create or use an existing project folder.
  3. Try to drag the unpinned chat into the project folder.
Bug 2: new chats can escape projects when the project uses an existing Codex chat folder
  1. Have an existing Codex chat/folder, for example "Chat A". This can be an older chat or one created recently.
  2. Create a new project, for example "Project ABC".
  3. During project creation, choose Chat A's existing Codex chat folder as the project folder.
  4. Start a new chat under Project ABC from the project folder in the Codex sidebar.

What did you expect to happen?

  • Any chat should be draggable into a project folder, whether or not it is pinned.
  • A new chat created under Project ABC should remain under Project ABC's project folder in the Codex sidebar when the project is created from an existing Codex chat folder, the same way it should for other valid existing folders.

What actually happened?

  • Unpinned chats cannot be dragged into project folders. Pinning the chat first makes it draggable.
  • New chats created under a project that uses an existing Codex chat folder can jump out of the project folder in the Codex sidebar during creation and become standalone/random chats.

Workaround

For both issues, pin the affected chat first, then drag it into the desired project folder manually.
