After enough Codex updates, are we just sitting on thousands of hidden skills?
What issue are you seeing?
Codex currently has a real failure mode: a long-lived install can accumulate hidden skill/plugin bloat through auto-updates.
Bundled skills. Curated packs. Runtime plugins. Cached versions. Duplicate old entries. Stuff that may not be clearly visible in settings, but can still expand what the model thinks it can route to.
Every update can bring more plugins, skills, cached packs, old versions, bundled stuff, curated stuff, runtime stuff. Half of it is not even obvious in settings.
Then the agent starts feeling worse. More random workflows. More weird skill triggers. More “why are you doing that?” moments.
And the answer cannot be “just disable the skills you don’t need.”
Disable what? From where? Which ones are active? Which ones are old cache? Which ones are official? Which ones are safe to remove? Why is this my job?
This is the kind of thing that makes Codex feel like it gets worse just by surviving updates.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Just upgrade codex
What is the expected behavior?
