Codex app: unsent PDF review comments are lost after reload
Component
Codex app / review UI / PDF diff comments
Version
- Codex app: 26.623.70822 (bundle 4559)
- Bundled CLI: codex-cli 0.142.4
- Platform: macOS
What happened
While reviewing a generated PDF deck in the Codex app, the user added roughly 20 PDF diff comments/annotations. After reopening/reloading the Codex page, the unsent draft comments disappeared. Only one comment that had already reached the thread/chat was still visible; the rest appeared unrecoverable.
This caused review work to be lost.
Expected behavior
Draft PDF review comments should be resilient to reload/navigation, or the app should warn before leaving/reloading while unsent comments exist. Ideally they should autosave locally or server-side and be recoverable after reopening the thread/review page.
Actual behavior
After reload/reopen, unsent draft PDF comments disappeared with no visible recovery path.
Reproduction notes
- Open a PDF artifact in the Codex app review/diff UI.
- Add multiple PDF comments/annotations, but do not submit them into the thread yet.
- Reload/reopen the Codex page or app view.
- Observe that the unsent draft comments are no longer visible.
Impact
High frustration and data loss during review. PDF deck review can involve many comments, and losing them forces the reviewer to redo the work manually.
Privacy/logs
No logs or source PDF are attached because the deck and local paths may contain private project information.
