Computer Use and in-app browser plugins unavailable on Windows
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.623.81905, released July 1, 2026
What subscription do you have?
Plus
What platform is your computer?
Windows x64. I can provide the exact Windows build if needed.
What issue are you seeing?
I’m using the Codex app on Windows with Codex version 26.623.81905, released July 1, 2026.
The Chrome extension is installed, enabled, and logged into the same account as the Codex app. However, the Chrome extension always shows “Disconnected”.
In Codex settings:
- Computer Use shows “Computer Use plugin unavailable”
- Browser shows “in-app browser plugin unavailable”
I have already tried:
- Restarting the computer
- Fully closing and reopening Codex and Chrome
- Confirming the Chrome extension and Codex app use the same account
- Signing out and back into Codex
- Switching VPN nodes / network routes
- Checking that the Chrome extension is enabled
The issue still remains. It looks like the Computer Use and in-app browser plugins are not available or not loading on my Windows Codex app/account.
Please check whether Computer Use is currently available for my account on Windows, or whether there is a missing plugin/module issue in this build.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open Codex on Windows.
- Go to Settings > Computer Use.
- Observe that it says “Computer Use plugin unavailable”.
- Go to Settings > Browser.
- Observe that it says “in-app browser plugin unavailable”.
- Open the Codex Chrome extension.
- Observe that the extension stays “Disconnected”.
What is the expected behavior?
