Dragging a generated image out of Codex Desktop to Finder/Downloads on macOS causes hard crash / apparent reboot

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Codex Desktop 26.623.101652 / bundle 4674

Codex Framework / Chromium base: 149.0.7827.197

Installed app path: /Applications/Codex.app

What subscription do you have?

Pro, but likely not relevant to local crash behavior.

What platform is your computer?

  • macOS 26.5.1 build 25F80
  • Darwin 25.5.0
  • Apple Silicon / ARM64
  • Hardware model: MacBookAir10,1
  • Chip: Apple M1
  • Memory: 16 GB

What issue are you seeing?

Dragging a generated/rendered image from inside the Codex macOS desktop app out to Finder, for example to the Downloads folder, consistently causes a severe crash/restart failure. From the user perspective, the app (inner, not the electron shell) appears to crash and reboot after the outgoing image drag.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Observed sequence:

  1. Launch Codex Desktop on macOS.
  2. Open a Codex thread with a generated/rendered image visible in the conversation.
  3. Drag that generated image out of Codex to Finder, for example into the Downloads folder.
  4. Codex crashes hard enough that it appears as an app reboot.

What is the expected behavior?

Dragging a generated image out of Codex should save/copy/export the image successfully without crashing.

The save currently completes successfully, but the crash happens.

Additional information

I will include a video below showing the outgoing drag from a generated/rendered image in Codex to Finder/Downloads and the resulting crash/restart behavior.
