Codex Desktop crashes after sending any prompt on Windows 11 25H2 (Build 26200.8655)

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Latest version installed from the official installer.

What subscription do you have?

ChatGPT Plus

What platform is your computer?

Windows 11 Home 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8655), x64

What issue are you seeing?

Environment:

  • Windows 11 Home 25H2 (Build 26200.8655)
  • Latest Codex Desktop
  • ChatGPT Plus
  • Codex CLI 0.142.3 works normally
  • 32 GB RAM
  • More than 100 GB free disk space
  • WSL not installed
  • No proxy enabled

Issue:
Codex Desktop launches normally and I can log in. However, after sending any prompt (even "hello"), the app crashes after a few seconds.

Error:
code=3221226505

Most recent error:
attestation generation request timed out
memory allocation of 712566 bytes failed

Already tried:

  • Reinstalled Codex Desktop
  • Removed Appx package
  • Deleted all user data under AppData/Packages/OpenAI.Codex*
  • Deleted Local OpenAI data
  • Ran SFC and DISM
  • Rebooted Windows

The issue is reproducible every time.

Codex CLI works normally on the same machine.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Launch Codex Desktop.
  2. Log in successfully.
  3. Create a new chat or open an existing one.
  4. Send any prompt (even "hello").
  5. Wait a few seconds.
  6. Codex crashes every time.

What is the expected behavior?

Codex should process the prompt normally and return a response instead of crashing.

Additional information

The issue persists after:

  • Completely reinstalling Codex Desktop
  • Removing the AppX package
  • Deleting all local user data
  • Running SFC and DISM
  • Rebooting Windows

Codex CLI (0.142.3) works normally on the same machine.

Crash message includes:

  • code=3221226505
  • attestation generation request timed out
  • memory allocation of 712566 bytes failed
