Codex/ChatGPT Desktop: detached chat window does not respond to zoom controls
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
Version 26.707.30751
What subscription do you have?
Pro
What platform is your computer?
Windows
What issue are you seeing?
In the new combined ChatGPT/Codex desktop app, detached chat windows do not respond to zoom controls.
When chat is embedded in the same main window as Codex, zoom in/out works normally. However, after detaching the chat into a separate window, zoom controls only affect the main Codex window. The detached chat window remains at the default text size, even when the detached chat window is focused.
There is no visible error message. The issue is that the detached chat window appears not to inherit or respond to the app zoom state.
Impact: detached chat text is too small to read comfortably, especially on high-resolution displays.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open the new combined ChatGPT/Codex desktop app.
- Open Codex.
- Use the embedded chat in the main Codex window.
- Use zoom in/out from the keyboard shortcut or the app menu.
- Confirm that the main Codex window zooms correctly.
- Detach the chat into a separate window.
- Focus the detached chat window.
- Try zoom in/out again using the keyboard shortcut or app menu.
Actual result:
Only the main Codex window zooms. The detached chat window remains at the default text size.
This reproduces regardless of whether the detached chat window is focused before using zoom controls.
What is the expected behavior?
The focused detached chat window should respond to zoom controls.
Alternatively, the detached chat window should inherit the current app zoom level from the main Codex window when it is detached.
In either case, zoom behavior should be consistent between embedded chat and detached chat windows.
