On-demand reusable prompt templates within existing conversations

What variant of Codex are you using?

App, CLI, Web, IDE Extension

What feature would you like to see?

Description:

It would be useful to define reusable prompt templates, like Markdown instruction files, and invoke them during an ongoing conversation, for example via slash command or menu. Often, midway through a discussion, I realize the content should be formatted according to one of my predefined templates. Instead of manually pasting a long prompt, I'd like to invoke a saved template like /use step-format-skill - and have Codex apply it from that point forward.

Example:

I'm 20 minutes into a technical chat and realize it would make a great step-by-step guide. I invoke my Step Format template. Codex continues or reformats using my predefined schema.

Benefits:

Reuse personal workflows, avoid copy-pasting long prompts, and preserve the flow of an active conversation.
