What issue are you seeing?
In the updated ChatGPT Mac app, the clear top-level “Chat” option has been removed, while the interface now mainly emphasizes “Work” and “Code.”
This makes common use cases such as casual conversation, general questions, learning, writing, brainstorming, and everyday advice feel less accessible. ChatGPT is not only a productivity or coding tool. For many users, open-ended conversation is still the primary and most fundamental way they use the product.
Placing general chat under “Work” or another category also creates unnecessary friction. Users should not have to decide whether their question belongs to “Work” or “Code” before starting a conversation.
I suggest:
- Restore “Chat” as a top-level option alongside “Work” and “Code.”
- Provide a general-purpose conversation entry point without requiring users to choose a task category.
- Allow users to set “Chat” as their default home screen.
- Avoid presenting ChatGPT as if it were mainly designed for work and programming.
“Chat” is one of ChatGPT’s core functions and should remain a clear, independent, and easily accessible primary feature.
