Feature request: hide the Pets menu item and add configurable prompt polishing

What feature would you like to see?
I would like two optional UX improvements:
- Allow users to hide the “Show pets” menu item
The “Show pets” entry in the bottom-left account menu is not useful to every user, and it is easy to click accidentally. Please add a setting to hide/remove this menu item (or provide a way to disable the feature entry point).
- Add a one-click “Polish prompt” action in the composer
Add a button or keyboard shortcut next to the message input that rewrites the current draft into a clearer, more complete prompt while preserving the user's intent. The polished prompt should be shown for review and editing before submission.
It would also be useful to let users configure the default model used specifically for prompt polishing, independently from the model used for the main conversation. This would make the feature predictable and allow users to choose a faster or more capable model based on their preferences.
Additional information
These requests are intended to reduce accidental clicks and improve prompt quality without forcing users into a different workflow.
Suggested acceptance criteria:
- The Pets entry can be disabled or hidden without disabling the rest of the account menu.
- Prompt polishing is explicitly user-triggered, never automatic.
- The user can review and edit the result before sending it.
- The default polishing model is configurable and clearly separated from the conversation model.

+1 on hiding pets. I can't believe we keep getting these annoying gimmicks while we still don't even have toggle to disable nausea inducing smooth scrolling.
Yes, "Show pets" menu item next to the settings and limit check buttons is a potential cause for misclicks.
It would be more convenient to add the option to not select any pets in the settings; and in that case, "Show pets" menu item would not appear at all.
+1 from macOS 26.5.2, Codex App 26.715.21425 (build 5488).\n\nThis is not only a cosmetic preference. The Show pets entry sits next to a high-frequency action, Remaining usage. In the regression documented in #28055, Invite friends loads asynchronously and shifts the account menu after it opens, so an attempt to check usage can repeatedly activate the pet.\n\nPlease provide a persistent setting such as Settings > Pets > Disable desktop pets, with these acceptance criteria:\n- no pet overlay is shown or restored;\n- the Show pets entry is removed from the account menu;\n- the preference persists across app relaunches and updates;\n- disabling pets does not hide or alter Remaining usage or other account actions.\n\nKeeping the menu layout stable should still be fixed separately in #28055, but a true opt-out is also needed for users who do not want the feature.
Yes it very annoying. I hit 'Show Pet' twice today because the menu keeps shifting up when I want to check my usage. Either don't have the menu items move, or add an option to hide the menu item. Preferably both.

26.715.4045.0.This happens specifically while trying to check Remaining usage. The account menu refreshes after it opens and the menu items move. Show pets then occupies the position where Remaining usage was about to be clicked, so the pending click unintentionally wakes the pet.
This is more than a cosmetic misclick on this machine: once the pet appears, the computer becomes noticeably laggy. The menu should reserve the final layout before accepting clicks, and users who do not want pets should have a persistent option that removes the Show pets entry entirely.
Exactly - the menu which loads in some async mode is SUCH A BAD UX. you click before it's shown and you almost always misclick. How can the dev of this feature, who used the app for more than 10 minutes, not see this?
On the same note, the "usage" should be something visible in summary or the context status popup or even in the status bar under the chats. everyone is looking at it every week, maybe even every day or a few times a day. Again, bad UX to hide it behind 3 clicks.
I think the OpenAI devs never actually need to check their usage.
The part of the problem to investigate is also why, in the third decade of 21st century, is it still possible to open a menu which doesn't render instantly. Most of the pet button misclicks are due to the fact that the menu loads so slowly the buttons rearrange by the time user clicks.
That is extremely embarrassing in the day and age where computers have dozens of gigabytes of RAM, multiple CPU cores with ~4+ GHz frequency, and SSD drives that can read gigabytes of data per second. There's no excuse for this bad performance of a desktop app from $1T corporation.
Why did you add this random pets thing that most people never used and put it in a place where you can misclick so often?
