ChatGPT and Codex apps have the same icon, causing the user to click the wrong one by accident.

What steps can reproduce the bug?
Install both, the Codex and the ChatGPT app
What is the expected behavior?
Different apps should have different icons. Maybe use a different color for the Codex app icon.
Additional information
Was correct before, where Codex used a different icon.

I can confirm this on Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200 x64 with OpenAI.Codex/ChatGPT
26.707.3748.0, currently the latest Microsoft Store build available to me.After the July 9 unified desktop-app update, the Start and taskbar entry uses the ChatGPT icon. Settings has no Windows equivalent of macOS’s Keep the Codex app icon option. This makes the new ChatGPT/Codex app difficult to distinguish from ChatGPT Classic when both are installed.
Expected: add an Appearance setting on Windows to choose the ChatGPT or Codex app icon, matching macOS, and apply it consistently to the Start menu, taskbar, window, tray, and notifications.
Upvote. This is totally confusing. I really liked the ChatGPT (Classic) experience for simple chats, exploration and for advanced usage I switched to codex. Having 2 icons made it really easy for me to distinguish between those two application. I do understand your efforts in merging those apps, but they serve two completely seperate use cases with seperate user groups. I want to keep the ChatGPT classic app for the chat experience but right now it is almost unusable as I have the same icons in taskbar and system tray.
Please bring back the codex icon on Windows.
While I hate this as much as others right now it is properly better to change the Icon of the ChatGPT Classic and keep the OpenAI logo for this one.. It is a shame MS Store do not allow change of Icon like Mac does (Where you can choose the Icon in settings between the new and the old)
@rwjdk : True. I would love to see Codex come back as codex. But as a second best option I agree that updating the ChatGPT Classic experience and give it an icon of its own would also solve the problem.
Confirmed on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (build 19045), ChatGPT Pro, with the updated MSIX package

The installed package manifest continues to register:ChatGPTapp/ChatGPT.exeassets/Square44x44Logo.pngAs a result, the Start menu and taskbar continue to show ChatGPT branding after updating. This is especially confusing when ChatGPT Classic is also installed.
Expected: provide the Windows equivalent of the macOS icon selector so users can choose the Codex logo, consistent with the July 9 unified-desktop-app announcement.

@LolthatEz I don't think OpenAI can make this feature for Windows :-( ... AFAIK the MS App store do not allow dynamic Icon change, so that is why it is not included
This is beyond annoying. I use ChatGPT and Codex at the same time for different purposes. I assume most of us do. The amount of times I have opened the incorrect app over the past few weeks is mind boggling. It seems that this would have been a foreseeable problem, no?
