macOS: window traffic-light controls are clipped in Codex desktop app

Open 💬 1 comment Opened Jul 10, 2026 by alecvse

Summary

The macOS window traffic-light controls (close, minimize, zoom) are visually clipped at the top-left of the Codex desktop app window. The top portion of each control appears cut off by the custom title bar.

Expected behavior

The traffic-light controls should be fully visible and correctly positioned inside the macOS title-bar safe area.

Actual behavior

The controls are partially clipped, making the window chrome look broken.

Environment

  • Codex desktop app: 26.707.31428 (com.openai.codex)
  • macOS: 12.7.6 (21H1320)
  • Hardware/display: iMac 27-inch, built-in Retina 5K display (5120 × 2880)
  • Display setup: internal display only; no external monitor, no mirroring

Notes

This appears to be an application title-bar/layout issue rather than a display or monitor issue.

A screenshot showing the clipped controls is available from the reporter.
