Windows 11 constant 1-4MB/s disk usage when any chat window is shown and IDLE, goes back to expected 0 when looking at other windows (plugins, scheduled, etc)

What issue are you seeing?

I've been using Codex for months and this feels like a very recent regression. Codex app (now ChatGPT?) is showing constant 1.5-4 MB/sec disk usage when idle, when any codex chat window is opened, even new empty chat. Usage drops to 0 (as should be the case) when other windows like "Scheduled" or settings are shown.

This was verified using Task Manager and the Process Explorer:

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Open app, select any prior chat or even "New task". Monitors will show constant, never ending disk usage, even when application is not in focus or after a long time.

What is the expected behavior?

Usage near 0 when idle.

Additional information

This is NOT related to Microsoft Defender or AV, as I tried disabling all protection and this does not affect the issue. i.e. this is separate from #31531
