Codex IDE doesn't work with GPT 5.6 models

What issue are you seeing?

When trying to use Codex IDE, it seems to default to some unnamed model (I can see only reasoning effort) and then when I write something it says "The 'gpt-5.6-sol' model requires a newer version of Codex. Please upgrade to the latest app or CLI and try again.".

When I try to switch to an older model , it works, but no GPT 5.6 model shows up. When will IDE support the new models? Maybe that's the main question.

I also use Codex app on Mac (no CLI) btw.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

• Open Cursor
• Try to Chat with Codex IDE
• You'll get the error message
• Changing back to an older model works, but then you can't go back to any newer model, they don't even show up
