What issue are you seeing?

Summary

The Computer Use plugin is enabled and can be selected with @Computer, but it cannot access the Windows control interface or the JavaScript execution tool required to control applications.

Error messages

When I asked Computer Use to open Windows Calculator and enter 123 × 456, it returned:

The current session is missing the JavaScript execution tool required by the Computer Use plugin, so it cannot actually operate Windows Calculator.

In another test, it returned:

Both the Windows and Chrome control interfaces are unavailable in this session. Reconnect the Computer plugin, then ask me again.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the ChatGPT Work desktop app on Windows.
  2. Enable the Computer Use plugin.
  3. Open Settings → Computer Control.
  4. Enable “Any App”.
  5. Confirm that the Google Chrome extension is connected.
  6. Create a completely new task.
  7. Select @Computer.
  8. Ask it to open Windows Calculator and enter 123 × 456.
  9. The task reports that the JavaScript execution tool or Windows control interface is unavailable.

Expected behavior

Computer Use should open Windows Calculator, enter the numbers, and read the result using the Windows control interface.

Actual behavior

The Computer Use skill is recognized, but no Windows application can be controlled.

Troubleshooting already attempted

  • Reinstalled the latest ChatGPT desktop application
  • Completely restarted the application
  • Created a new task after reinstalling
  • Disabled and re-enabled Computer Use
  • Enabled “Any App” access
  • Confirmed that the Chrome extension is connected
  • Enabled Excel and PowerPoint control permissions
  • Tested again with Windows Calculator

Plugin details

The Computer Use plugin page shows:

  • Skills 1 → Computer Use
  • Plugin version: 26.623.101652

The page does not show a Computer-use MCP server or another execution interface.
