Desktop app does not display Projects although they exist on the web

Same account.
Same Plus subscription.
Chats synchronize correctly.
Recent chats are available.
All Projects are visible on chatgpt.com.
The Desktop app shows an empty Projects page and only offers "Create new project".
Restarting the application and checking for updates did not solve the issue.
