Environment

• macOS
• ChatGPT Desktop 26.707.51957 (Released July 11, 2026)

Issue

After updating to the latest ChatGPT desktop app, none of my existing ChatGPT Projects appear in the desktop application.

The same account, on the same Mac, using Safari, correctly displays all of my ChatGPT Projects.

This affects both:

• Business workspace (Waggle)
• Personal workspace (Steven Mornelli)

Expected behavior

The desktop app should display the same cloud ChatGPT Projects that are visible on chatgpt.com.

Actual behavior

The desktop app displays an empty Projects section.

Clicking the "+" next to Projects only offers:

• Start from scratch
• Use an existing folder

This appears to expose local Work/Codex projects rather than existing cloud ChatGPT Projects.

Additional observations

• Authentication is working correctly.
• Same account is logged into both Safari and the desktop app.
• Workspace switching works correctly.
• Existing ChatGPT Projects are fully visible and usable in Safari.
• Desktop search cannot find chats that exist inside those projects.

Troubleshooting already completed

• Reinstalled the desktop app.
• Cleared local application data.
• Logged out/in.
• Restarted macOS.
• Restarted networking equipment.
• Disabled Proton VPN.
• Confirmed correct account and workspace.

The issue persists.

This appears to be a desktop app synchronization/regression affecting cloud ChatGPT Projects.

What is the expected behavior?

The desktop app should display the same cloud ChatGPT Projects, pinned items, and project conversations that are visible on chatgpt.com for the same account and selected workspace. Switching between Business and Personal workspaces should show the correct projects for each workspace, and project chats should be searchable and accessible in the desktop app.
