Switching between dataanalytics report and side-task views in the right panel frequently triggers an error

What issue are you seeing?

Codex generates a dataanalytics report that opens as a separate view in the right-hand panel. In the example screenshots, that report view is named “Dataanalytics”.

I then open a `/side task/dialog, which appears as another view named “Side task”. Switching between these two views inside the right-hand panel frequently replaces the panel content with this error:

Oops, an error has occurred

The error screen offers two buttons:

• Update ChatGPT
• Try again

This is intermittent, but it happens approximately 4 out of 5 times in normal use and makes the generated report difficult to use.

This is not an error caused by switching between the main GPT conversation and the right-hand panel. It occurs when switching between the generated report view and the side-task view within the same right-hand panel.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Start or continue a normal conversation with GPT in the main conversation screen.
2. Have GPT generate a report that opens in the right-hand panel. In this example, the report view is named “Dataanalytics”.
3. Within that same right-hand panel, open a side task/dialog. A second view named “Side task” appears next to the report view.
4. Switch to the “Side task” view.
5. Click the “Dataanalytics” report view to switch back within the right-hand panel.
6. Observe that the right-hand panel is sometimes replaced by “Oops, an error has occurred”.

The problem is intermittent rather than deterministic, but it reproduces in approximately 4 out of 5 attempts.

What is the expected behavior?

The generated report and side-task views should remain available as separate views within the right-hand panel.

Switching between these two right-panel views should reliably restore the selected content without displaying an error. The main GPT conversation should remain unaffected.

The issue does not occur on every attempt, so it may depend on right-panel view restoration or UI state timing. No session ID was captured.
