ChatGPT desktop app crashes when starting a new task and remains laggy after relaunch

What issue are you seeing?

The Codex desktop app is very laggy and repeatedly crashes. Closing and reopening the app does not resolve the problem. Starting a new task/new chat causes the app to crash.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Open the Codex desktop app.
2. Try to use the app; it is noticeably laggy.
3. Close and reopen the app; the lag and crashes continue.
4. Start a new task/new chat.
5. The app crashes.

What is the expected behavior?

The app should remain responsive, and starting a new task/new chat should open the new conversation without crashing.

Additional information

Relaunching the app does not fix the issue. The app provided the feedback ID above and instructed me to include it in a GitHub issue.
