Problem
Scheduled Tasks created successfully are not displayed in the Desktop application.
Expected behavior
Scheduled Tasks should appear in the "Tasks" section of the left sidebar.
Actual behavior
The left sidebar always displays:
"No tasks"
However, the same account on https://chatgpt.com shows all scheduled tasks correctly under "Planning".
Additional information
The tasks are active and synchronized on the server.
Only the Desktop UI does not display them.

I can reproduce the same issue on a newer Windows desktop build:

chatgpt.comfor the same account, but the desktop app's Scheduled page is empty. Fully restarting the desktop app does not resolve it.I initially opened #33495 before this duplicate was detected; I am closing that issue as a duplicate of this one.
I appear to have this on the latest MacOS Apple Silicone client as well.

Basically, it simply behaves as if I have just have a completely separate list of tasks on desktop as I do on the iOS or web client.
From what I understand after speaking with support, Codex has been undergoing frequent updates lately, and the layout, certain features, etc., often change, which can be a bit confusing. Sometimes things are still there but have changed names, moved locations, or disappeared.
But in the case at hand, and again, based on my discussions with support as well as with ChatGPT (which consulted the Codex documentation), you’re right: the two lists are different, but by design!
It seems that, and this ultimately makes sense (though it’s poorly presented at the moment), Codex has machine-related tasks (such as regularly sorting a directory) that cannot be located in the cloud. Therefore, tasks created on the OpenAI server and running on OpenAI servers must be scheduled via the ChatGPT web app. However, tasks related to the machine and created by Codex remain locally within Codex.
Nevertheless, this isn’t very clear because “Cloud” tasks should all appear in Codex regardless, yet only some are visible (for me). Conversely, it’s clear that “local” Codex tasks aren’t visible on the ChatGPT website.
In short, in my opinion, two issues are getting mixed up here: an obvious synchronization and display bug, and a very poor presentation and separation of local and cloud tasks. Together, these two factors make it very difficult to understand what’s going on...
This may be another 'not clearly communicated' thing, or even a separate issue for me altogether, but...
My left sidebar is set to 'ChatGPT'; That dropdown which now lets you choose between ChatGPT and Codex views in this new application that combines both, which replaced the previous-and-now-renamed "ChatGPT Classic" application.
While in this state I see all my other chats, projects, pins, etc from 'ChatGPT', and none of my 'Codex' related stuff. To see that I sensibly need to change the dropdown to 'Codex'.
I understand if Codex has local scheduled tasks, that's indeed a useful feature, but then why do I get _that_ in the ChatGPT sidebar—which otherwise maps one-to-one to my other ChatGPT clients—while I'm not actually in 'Codex' mode?
I would argue this is not as intended or poorly communicated. It simply smells of wires that got crossed so the separate machine-specific Schedules sidebar item that belongs in Codex mode is actually what I am getting while in ChatGPT mode.
I suppose that since "ChatGPT Classic" is also local, it must be subject to the same duality. But it's not clear. Well, OpenAI is releasing quite a few updates right now on Codex (or “ChatGPT Work/Codex”—the name changes often...) and they’re struggling to keep up, perhaps releasing updates a little too early to avoid being overtaken by the competition. It’s understandable, but it creates a complicated situation for users, who end up as paying beta testers—a concept that isn’t exactly a win-win...
In fact, I still have a task that says it’s been completed but hasn’t produced anything. And another one that doesn’t show up in Codex. In short, it’s unclear; we’ll have to give it time to stabilize.
For now, we can’t really entrust serious tasks to this system—it’s not mature yet (for example, there’s no log of tasks scheduled locally or remotely, so it’s impossible to know what happened; it’s not usable as is).
Let’s hope they’ll work twice as hard (well, make ChatGPT work twice as hard!) to sort all this out. The limits of “vibe coding”? :-)
I feel that if this is truly still being iterated on this much then perhaps relegating the existing client to be called "classic" may have been a bit premature.
And no, scheduled tasks in all other 'Chat GPT' clients appear to run on the server; Even when the clients are shut down they will evaluate periodically and provide push notifications when new updates occur, so that's pretty clear.
