Generated spreadsheet attachments cannot be downloaded from the ChatGPT/Codex desktop application

What issue are you seeing?

Generated spreadsheet attachments (.xlsx) created by ChatGPT are not downloadable from the unified ChatGPT/Codex desktop application.

The assistant generates the workbook and provides a download link, but the desktop application does not allow the file to be downloaded.

The same conversation opened in the ChatGPT Web application allows the spreadsheet to be downloaded successfully.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Ask ChatGPT to generate an Excel workbook (.xlsx).
  2. Open the conversation in the unified ChatGPT/Codex desktop application.
  3. Click the generated workbook attachment or download link.
  4. Observe that the spreadsheet cannot be downloaded.
  5. Open the same conversation in the ChatGPT Web application.
  6. Observe that the spreadsheet downloads successfully.

What is the expected behavior?

Generated spreadsheet attachments should be downloadable from both the ChatGPT Web application and the unified ChatGPT/Codex desktop application.

The download experience should be consistent across clients.

Impact

This prevents users from retrieving generated Excel workbooks without switching to the web application.

For workflows involving document creation, spreadsheets, reports, and other generated artifacts, the desktop application should provide the same download functionality as the web application.

This appears to affect generated spreadsheet attachments specifically. The same workbook is downloadable from the web application but not from the desktop application.
