CMD+shift+brackets state reset when clicking

What issue are you seeing?
When using cmd+shift+brackets to navigate tabs, state is lost if you click on another tab.
Behavior:
- Some N tabs down
- Click on tab N+1
- Use cmd+shift+right bracket to attempt to navigate to the next tab
- First tab in the left menu is focused instead (state is maintained from there)
It seems the state is not synchronized with reality
What steps can reproduce the bug?

State is preserved

Hi! Just following up to see if this issue is still available to work on. I've been investigating it locally and would be happy to submit a fix if that's okay.
