Add an unread-only sidebar filter with a keyboard shortcut
What variant of Codex are you using?
Codex desktop app (macOS; should apply to desktop platforms)
What feature would you like to see?
Add a global Unread only toggle to the Codex desktop sidebar so I can see every conversation that needs my attention in one view.
The filter should:
- Show only unread conversations across the entire sidebar.
- Include unread conversations inside pinned projects, not just the flat Recent/Chats list.
- Preserve project grouping so the source project remains clear.
- Update immediately as conversations become read or unread.
- Be quick to toggle from both a visible sidebar control and a keyboard shortcut, ideally Cmd+U on macOS (with the platform-equivalent shortcut elsewhere).
- Make the active filtered state visually obvious and provide a one-action way to return to the normal sidebar.
Primary use case: after work has accumulated across many projects, toggle Unread only, process everything needing attention, then toggle back.
Additional information
I first checked whether this already exists. I found no documented or visible unread-only sidebar filter and no matching open or closed feature request from searches for “sidebar unread,” “unread only,” “pinned projects unread,” “filter conversations sidebar,” and related terms.
Related but not duplicate: #32091 reports that unread tasks are automatically prioritized within a project and explicitly notes there is no visible filter control. That issue asks for clearer sorting/filtering control or a return to chronological sorting; this request is specifically for an intentional global unread-only attention view spanning pinned projects, plus a fast shortcut.
Shortcut caveat: Cmd+U is the preferred mnemonic, provided it does not conflict with an existing Codex app command.
