Codex desktop composer intermittently freezes and requires app restart

Description

The Codex desktop app intermittently freezes on macOS. The composer stops accepting keyboard input, so work cannot continue until the app is closed and reopened. This has occurred repeatedly.

There is also related model-routing friction: routine tasks that previously worked reliably with GPT-5.5 Medium were recommended or routed to GPT-5.6 Sol High without a clear task-specific reason. Please investigate both the composer/input hang and overly aggressive model or reasoning-effort escalation guidance.
