What issue are you seeing?

I just installed the chatGPT for Mac Desktop app. i have the plus subscription. however, the projects i have on my phone app and on my browser do not show up on my desktop. I am logged in to the same account.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Title: ChatGPT desktop 26.721.41059 displays Codex Projects instead of ChatGPT Projects in Chat mode

Environment

  • macOS
  • ChatGPT 26.721.41059
  • Plus subscription

Expected

  • In Chat mode, the Projects section should show my cloud ChatGPT Projects (e.g. “Fungal Fun”), exactly as shown on chatgpt.com and ChatGPT Classic.

Actual

  • Ordinary chats synchronize correctly.
  • The Projects section instead shows my Codex projects/local repositories.
  • My ChatGPT Projects remain available on chatgpt.com and in ChatGPT Classic.

How can this fundamental flaw have persisted for so long??? I will not trust this new ChatGPT app, and since Codex migrates to it, can't use Codex.

macOS desktop app 26.814.41407 — existing Projects disappear after startup
Using the new ChatGPT desktop app (“Powered by Codex & OWL”), version 26.814.41407, released Aug 17, 2026.
Existing Projects initially appear when the application launches, but after the app finishes loading/syncing they disappear and Projects shows “No projects.”
Projects created after this problem started work correctly and sync bidirectionally between the Mac app, web and mobile.
Existing Projects remain available and work normally on chatgpt.com and the mobile app.
Chat history also synchronizes correctly, so the account itself appears to be syncing.
Library, GPTs and Agents links are also missing from the Mac desktop app.
Reproduction:

  1. Launch Mac app.
  2. Existing Projects briefly appear.
  3. Wait for startup/sync to complete.
  4. Existing Projects disappear.
  5. Newly created Projects remain visible.

Web and mobile are unaffected.

Same issue for me (Windows 11 ARM) on main ChatGPT app and Beta version. Projects list properly on Android phone via Remote connection.
