Environment:

  • Codex Windows desktop app
  • Browser/Chrome plugin build: 26.707.71524

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a task in the Codex Windows app.
  2. Install or enable the OpenAI Browser plugin.
  3. Open the built-in browser.
  4. Ask Codex to connect to or control the browser.
  5. Browser-client initialization fails before tab discovery.

The same failure occurs with the Chrome plugin.

Actual result:
Cannot redefine property: process

Expected result:
The browser runtime initializes and Codex can discover, open, and control tabs.

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Multiple full Codex app restarts
  • Browser plugin reinstall
  • Chrome plugin reinstall
  • Clean browser runtime reset
  • Brand-new Codex task
  • Reproduced with both the built-in Browser and Chrome

Impact:
This blocks authenticated production browser regression testing. Codex cannot reach the browser tab, inspect login state, or perform any browser interaction.

Logs/session were uploaded through the feedback flow using the Feedback ID above.
