Feature request: Chinese localization for the Codex desktop app UI

Feature request

Please add Chinese localization support for the Codex / ChatGPT desktop app UI.

Motivation

Chinese-speaking users can already ask Codex to respond in Chinese, but the desktop app interface itself remains in English. This creates friction for users who are comfortable coding with Codex but prefer a localized product experience for settings, commands, dialogs, keyboard shortcut labels, review flows, task management, and onboarding.

Requested behavior

Add a language option in the desktop app settings, such as:

  • Auto-detect from system language
  • English
  • 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese)
  • 繁體中文 (Traditional Chinese), if feasible

The setting should apply to the desktop app UI itself, including settings, menus, dialogs, task labels, review UI, command names, and built-in help text.

Current related behavior

The Codex IDE extension documents chatgpt.localeOverride as an editor setting for the Codex UI, but the desktop app settings documentation does not appear to expose an equivalent language / locale override for the desktop app itself.

User impact

This would make Codex more approachable for Chinese-speaking users and teams, especially in onboarding, education, and day-to-day desktop workflows where users interact with the product UI frequently.
