Codex Mobile drops voice recording when reconnecting.
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
Version 26.707.62119
What subscription do you have?
Plus plan
What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19045.0 x64
What issue are you seeing?
When recording a voice message on Codex Mobile (via ChatGPT for Android v1.2026.188(27)), if the app disconnects before you finish, the entire recorded message is silently dropped causing total loss of everything you were saying. No message is shown, no error is reported. It just vanishes.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Feedback ID: 019f2b8f-e4b7-77f2-8dd9-68f85d3a44e7
What is the expected behavior?
When using ChatGPT normally on the Android app, you can record a voice message even when offline. Attempting to send it to be transcribed shows an error then there's a retry arrow you can click after turning on your mobile data and the message is sent successfully with no loss. We need the same reliability and retry support when sending a voice message to be executed by the agent on my laptop.
Additional information
This issue is tantamount to recurring data loss. Can you imagine recording several minutes of reflection/instructions and having it all lost due to a transient network error? I am on the Plus trial plan and was fully planning to become a subscriber in a few days, but I can't take losing more work like this. Voice messages are a massive value-add for using Codex without typing reams of text - if they don't record reliably then we are back to typing everything manually which is cheaper to do without paying for a Codex subscription.
