Summary

Codex Desktop consistently crashes and automatically restarts while switching between long-running tasks.

This is not just a performance issue.

The entire ChatGPT.exe process crashes, the application restarts automatically, and then restores the previous session.

---

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a workspace containing multiple long-running tasks.
  2. Switch between tasks several times.
  3. The UI freezes for a few seconds.
  4. ChatGPT.exe crashes.
  5. Codex Desktop automatically restarts and restores the session.

The issue is reproducible almost every time.

---

Expected behavior

Switching between tasks should be smooth without crashing or restarting.

---

Actual behavior

The application freezes briefly and then ChatGPT.exe crashes and automatically restarts.

---

Additional information

Windows Event Viewer consistently reports:

MoAppCrash
Exception code: 0xc06d007f

I have already submitted a Performance Trace through the application.

Feedback ID:

019f6870-c00e-7fd0-8541-84fff3f84fdf

I also collected a full Windows WER crash dump (several GB) and can provide it if needed.

The issue appears related to restoring or switching between long-running tasks rather than general UI performance.
