Native Apple Watch app for voice prompts, agent monitoring & tool approvals

What variant of Codex are you using?

App

What feature would you like to see?

I'd love to see a native watchOS app for Codex.

One of the biggest advantages of coding agents is that they continue working while I'm away from my computer. The Apple Watch seems like the perfect companion for this.

Core features

  • 🎙️ Dictate prompts to an existing agent using Siri/voice
  • ➕ Start a new coding task directly from the watch
  • 👀 View currently running agents and their status
  • ⏸️ Pause, resume, or stop agents
  • ✅ Approve tool calls with a single tap
  • 🚨 Receive actionable notifications when an agent needs input or approval
  • 📈 See basic progress (running, waiting for approval, completed, failed)

Why this would be valuable

A lot of agent workflows are asynchronous. Often I leave my desk while Codex is working, but occasionally it needs confirmation for a tool call or a quick follow-up prompt.

Instead of pulling out my phone or opening my laptop, I could simply:

  • glance at my watch,
  • approve the action,
  • or dictate a quick follow-up prompt.

This would make long-running coding sessions much smoother and reduce unnecessary interruptions.

Nice-to-have ideas

  • Complications showing active agent count or current status
  • Siri/App Intents integration ("Ask Codex to continue", "Start a new task")
  • Handoff from Apple Watch → iPhone/Mac
  • Notification actions for common responses (Approve, Deny, Retry)
  • Optional haptic notification when an agent is waiting on user input

I think Codex is one of the apps that could genuinely benefit from a watchOS companion because agent workflows naturally extend beyond the desk. It feels like a very natural fit for Apple's ecosystem.
