Issue

Computer Use cannot start in any task.

The Computer Use plugin is installed correctly.

MCP server is ON
Computer Use skill is ON
Launching through the official "Try now" button creates a task that immediately reports:

"Computer Use interaction runtime isn't available in this task's toolset."

Other messages observed:

"UI-control tool wasn't exposed."
"Computer Use interaction runtime isn't available in this task."
"Required node_repl Computer Use interface isn't available."

Expected behavior

Clicking "Try now" should start a Computer Use session, request macOS permissions if necessary, and allow ChatGPT to control local applications.

Actual behavior

The runtime never starts and macOS never requests Accessibility or Screen Recording permissions.

The issue occurs even when launching Computer Use through the official "Try now" button on the Computer Use plugin page. The task is created successfully, but the Computer Use runtime is never attached to the task.

Troubleshooting performed

Reinstalled the Computer Use plugin
Restarted ChatGPT
Restarted macOS
Created multiple brand-new tasks
Used the official "Try now" button
Tested with TextEdit, Chrome, and Chess.app
Verified MCP server is enabled
Verified Computer Use skill is enabled

No change after any of the above steps.

I can reproduce the same issue on macOS.

Environment:

ChatGPT/Codex Desktop: 26.721.41059
Subscription: ChatGPT Pro
Platform: macOS, Apple Silicon (arm64)
Location: Poland (EEA)
Computer Use plugin: 1.0.1000502

Configuration verified:

Computer-use MCP server is enabled
Computer Use skill is enabled
Screen Recording and System Audio permission

is enabled for Codex Computer Use

Accessibility permission is enabled

for Codex Computer Use

Troubleshooting performed:

Fully quit and restarted the desktop app
Created multiple completely new tasks
Invoked both @Computer Use and @Computer
Verified that the plugin mention is attached

to the prompt

Actual result:
The plugin is recognized, but the Computer Use
runtime/tool is not exposed to the task. The agent
therefore cannot control any desktop application.

The test request was to open Godot 4.7.1 and stop
at its Project Manager. No terminal fallback was
allowed.

The MCP configuration displayed by the app uses
a relative command beginning with:
./Codex Computer Use.app/...
and the working directory is set to ".".
