Restore the “scroll to bottom” button in long chats on the new macOS desktop ChatGPT app
What variant of Codex are you using?
New ChatGPT Desktop App (Codex + Chat)
What feature would you like to see?
Please restore the floating “scroll to bottom” button in the new ChatGPT macOS desktop app.
In long conversations, when the user scrolls upward, a downward arrow should appear above the chat input bar and allow the user to return to the latest message with one click.
This behavior already exists in the ChatGPT web app and was also available in the previous macOS desktop app. It is especially useful in long conversations, where manually scrolling back to the bottom is slow and inconvenient.
Additional information
This request is for the new unified ChatGPT macOS desktop app, not ChatGPT Classic.
Current behavior:
After scrolling upward in a long conversation, there is no visible button or shortcut near the chat input area for immediately returning to the latest message.
Expected behavior:
A floating downward arrow should appear when the user is no longer near the bottom of the conversation. Clicking it should instantly scroll to the newest message.
This is an important navigation feature for long research, coding, and extended chat sessions. The web version already provides this functionality, so adding it to the desktop app would also improve feature parity between the two platforms.
